Project details

The first Congress of the Third Social Sector of Catalonia aims to be a key moment for discussion and exchange, looking at the main means that can improve the Third Social Sector. The objective is to create a space for debate, a place to present projects, helping to strengthen cooperation among organizations working in this field. The event also aims to raise awareness the persons and communities who need the most assistance.

Shared objective: work towards the integration of the communities most in need.

"La Taula d'entitats del Tercer Sector Social de Catalunya" was created in July 2003 with the aim to improve the well-being of persons with social needs that have not been covered and in priority for social inclusion. It is working with the private and public sectors as well as the Catalan society more generally speaking, around social policies of Catalonia.

Composed of 23 umbrella organizations representing more than 2000 entities in Catalonia, among which are associations, entities for social integration, foundations and cooperatives that are all working for social inclusion of the communities most in need, striving to change the basic conditions which lead to exclusion.

The third social sector is composed of organizations that promote awareness and prevention programs, programs of assistance, volunteering and citizen participation, as well as strengthening of the third sector.

Action of these entities is directed toward communities, in particular children and families, older persons, youth, people with disabilities, the chronically ill, drug addicts, immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers, ethnic minorities, prisoners and ex-prisoners, people with social and professional integration difficulties, homeless, communities in emergency situations and disasters, and others.

The organizations that are represented serve more than 800,000 people, generating 16,000 workplaces and working with 50,000 volunteers who are helping those most in need.
