The Internet Governance Forum is an outcome of the Tunis phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), which took place in 2005. Chaired by Nitin Desai, the UN Secretary-General's Special Adviser for Internet Governance, and Hadil da Rocha Vianna, Director for Scientific and Technological Affairs in Brazil's Ministry of External Relations, and hosted by the Government of Brazil, the second meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) will take place in Rio de Janeiro from 12 to 15 November 2007.

Papel de ICVoluntarios

ICVolunteers has been invited as a leading promoter of cybervolunteering and also as official representative of Maaya, the World Network for Linguistic Diversity (www.maaya.org). Maaya will act as a catalyst during 2008, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly the International Year of Languages and by the European Union the Year of Intercultural Dialogue. The IGF will address an important range of Internet-related topics, such as Public Participation in Internet Governance, Access and Connectivity for Remote, Rural and Dispersed Communities, Human Rights and Neutrality in the Internet, Open Standards, Multilingual Global Internet, Digital Education, Cybercrime, Security and Privacy Challenges, Consumer Protection, Strategies for Developing Countries.
