The Pan-Russian Forum “Volunteer of Russia 2012” took place in Perm, Russia, on December 3-6, with the aim to develop partnership among civil society institutions in the field of volunteerism and charity to solve social problems of local communities. The Second Session of the International UN Conference “Volunteerism – Avenue for Social Transformation” was held in the framework of the Forum on December 5-6, 2012.

Both of these events were continuations to the International Conference “Volunteerism – Avenue for Social Transformation” at the United Nations Office at Geneva, organized by the Perm Volunteer Center in June 2012.

The Perm conference aimed to present the effective technologies for volunteerism, to develop the cooperation among Russian and foreign volunteer organizations, to translate socially significant international projects.

Experts in the field of volunteerism development, representatives of NGOs, government bodies, centers for volunteerism from 15 countries — took part in the event. During the session on “Volunteerism – Universal Resource for Territory Development”, experts and participants discussed the issues of influence of citizens’ volunteer activity on solving problems of local communities: drop of stress in society, international collaboration, amelioration of marginal social group, ecological safety, influence of voluntary activities on social and economic growth and role of volunteerism in paradigm of social development and others.

Representatives of volunteer organizations and foundations from Russia, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Malaysia, Lithuania, Germany and Croatia took part in the Conference.

ICVolunteers participated in the panel with one of the expert organizations.
