Project details

TEDxCERN will take place on May 3rd, 2013 at CERN, near Geneva, Switzerland, and will be webcast live throughout many of CERN's member institutes.

Going beyond particle physics, TEDxCERN will provide a stage for the expression of science in multiple dimensions and disciplines, unveiling a world in which physics intersects with other multi-dimensional disciplines and thought. Science is everywhere; our lives as individuals and our survival as a society depend on its thoughtful development. In order to move into a more robust future we need to inspire even more young people to become part of a new generation of scientists; we need to celebrate and encourage scientific thinking, and to above all convey that science matters to everyone.

TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment and Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences -- the TED Conference on the North American West Coast each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh UK each summer -- TED includes the award-winning TED Talks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.
